Congressman Bilirakis Condemns Turkey PM Comparison Between Zionism and Facism

Washington, DC (March 4, 2013) – Congressman Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL), co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues and the Congressional Hellenic-Israel Alliance, today condemned statements made by Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who compared Zionism to Fascism, calling it “a crime against humanity.”

“Prime Minister Erdogan’s statement is yet another example of the ongoing campaign to delegitimize Israel, the only continuously democratic nation in the region. False comparisons, such as this, only perpetuate extremism across the globe. Prime Minister Erdogan should immediately retract his statements.”
